Driving Instructor Training

The Key Skills Residential Instructor Training Course is designed for those of you that want full on one-two-one training throughout their course.

This 7 day, course is started as soon as you sign up with our course. Waiting for the criminal records check can take 5 to 12 weeks, we don't waste this time, we use it to get you started on your Part 1 (Theory), Part 2 (Driving Ability) and Part 3 (Instructional Ability). Part 1, 2 and 3 are all linked together to help you get the most out of your training course.

'Before you can teach you must learn how to learn'

By combining Parts 1, 2 and 3, will help you to understand why we need to know the theory and then to able to drive to a high standard before we are in a position to teach. Armed with this information at the start of the course will enable you to appreciate how each aspect is interlinked and this is vital for a successful teaching practice.

It is common practice during Part 1 just to study the Theory disc. Experience has shown that studying in this method is detrimental at stages 2 and 3 as the Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) has knowledge but not understanding and therefore finds Part 2 difficult and for Part 3 they cannot pass on the information in a timely fashion to the pupil.

To become a driving instructor, the qualifying process is not easy, and the pass rates are low. In 2008-2009, the pass rates for each of the three qualifying tests were:

1. Theory test - part one 51 percent
2. Test of driving ability - part two 50 percent
3. Test of instructional ability - part three 30 percent

One - Two - One Training

This 7 day, Residential Instructor Training Course is conducted on a one-two-one basis.It covers all aspects of the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) process.

Course Fee

This course fee has been carefully worked out to give you great value for money. The 7 days (53 hours), dedicated, friendly, approachable, one-two-one training course, will only cost you £2500 (exams not included).

Training package:

• 7 nights bed and breakfast

Because we would like you bright eyed and bushy tailed for your training course, we will put you up from the night before your training, in a local bed and breakfast.

• Lunch

Supplied lunch: sandwiches, chocolate bars, biscuits, crisps, Tea / Coffee / Hot Chocolate/ fresh orange juice.

• Course material

We will supply you with all course material needed to become a driving instructor (all books, CD's, visual aids and Key Skills Instructor Training Portfolio).

• ORDIT trainer

To insure the best quality training, all our training is done by an ORDIT trainer.

• Aftercare

Help and advice at the end of the phone or e-mail throughout/after your training course.

Course

The course will run over 7 day's. With 3 visits to Portsmouth.

• 2 Day's training and receive study pack. You go home, revise your study pack. Pass the DSA Theory Test.
• 2 Day's training. You go home, revise your study pack. Pass the DSA Driving Ability Test.
• 3 Day's training. You go home, revise your study pack. Pass the DSA Instructional Ability Test.

Or

You go home, revise your study pack. Apply for a Trainee Licence for 6 months and practice with learner drivers.
